MJBiz Gets the Greenlight in Las Vegas

Big signs, bright lights, the sense of hustle and bustle, and the subtle aroma of cannabis was the first sign we made it to MjBizCon 2022. Now in its 11th year, MJBizCon held over 1,400 exhibitors, 70+ Hours of educational content and over 150 speakers. The show started with pre-show forums on November 15 and ran through November 18 2022. 

MJBiz is the oldest and largest trade show in the cannabis industry and has been constantly growing since its first show. This year there were more than 380 companies new to the exhibiting hall, which spanned nearly 280,000 square feet across two floors in the Las Vegas Convention Center. From growers to CPA’s, the limit of who you could meet at this show was limitless. GBS was able to spend the week with two clients, Black Mule Coffee and Rasta Roots and guide them through the conference ensuring they were able to make the right connections, and find the vendors who could help fuel their growth. 

The Greenlight team took a divide and conquer approach to the trade show and used the MJBiz Con mobile application to plan out the “must-sees” of the convention. Once we secured our badges, we hit the expo hall floor running. Each booth allowed us the opportunity to touch, smell and see a variety of products offered and network with professionals in the space. The team met individuals from all over the country and even Canada making for a wide range of perspectives and niche products. With every interaction, every Greenlight member is conscious about how they go about sparking a conversation. The moment you begin to speak, that first interaction is what means the most. How memorable do you want to be? Each team member is tasked with having their own vision of what they want the other person and themselves to get out of their first impression to one another. This is the first step to building a business relationship! 

However, working hard comes with playing even harder. After 2 successful days of talking and viewing, the GBS team hosted a dinner for clients and partners to debrief the experience. Allowing for intimate conversations, a showcasing of all the cool nick-nacks collected at the expo hall and a buffet style dinner allows for a personal relation to build while at the same time building business relations. Do you have individuals who are potential new clients? Invite them to the trade show and provide them an experience! Not only does it make it more comfortable, but it allows the client to see how much knowledge you have, and when you don’t have it, it shows the client you know exactly where to go to get them an answer. 

As an aside, my personal favorite of the conference was the Hall Of Flowers which was on display in the middle of the convention. This might sound like there were actual flowers to “Ooh and Ahh” at, but instead it was a greenspace with a curated collection of some of the industry’s premium licensed cannabis brands and retail buyers. A great space to relax and unwind and also sample a few products. It’s always a great time to be in the cannabis industry!
